Firm History

Headquartered in Los Angeles, California and established in 2006 by architects Herwig Baumgartner and Scott Uriu, each partners with over 15 years of professional experience, BplusU is a full-service architecture firm that has worked on projects both nationwide and abroad. The architects’ work has comprised cultural locations (including museums, concert halls and exhibition spaces), educational and transportation facilities, master planning and urban design, offices and mixed-use developments, restaurants, and residential work.

BplusU’s work was recently exhibited at the 12th Architecture Biennale in Venice, Italy; the Architecture and Design Museum (A+D) in Los Angeles; the 2011 AIA Emerging Professional exhibition in Washington D.C.; the Milan Stadtkrone 2030 Exhibition in Milan, Italy; the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria; the Audience of Objects exhibition at the SciArc gallery; and the CCRD in Hollywood, California.

It has also been widely published and discussed in such books magazines and Newspapers such as Architectural Record, Architects Newspaper, The Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Magazine, Angelino, Azure, Futuristic, FORM, Future Arquitecturas, B-1 magazine, Architecture Live 6, REM, Elemente, Construction and Architecture, Light-Color-Sound Interior and Design, Dialog, 360 Modern Architecture, arcCA, Mark, 1000 x Architecture of the Americas, DAMDI portfolio, Venice Biennale catalogue, Arte; on such websites as Archinect, AEC Architecture showcase, Arquitectura_acero, and Designboom; and in both television and radio interviews. BplusU has been awarded with the Maxine Frankel Award 2010 for design research.
